The Audi A3 Sportback has introduced a newcylinder on demand (COD) model to its ever-expanding range, COD has the car operating on four cylindersin most driving conditions, but drops it to two when only minimum power is required.

So,when cruising along on flat, straight highways or country roads, it does just that, cruises.

Then there is Audi's attention to build andfinish, and this model is no exception.

But it's not just the way it is screwed togetherthat had it finish above the pack in Australia's Best Cars, it was also top in class for ergonomics.

Allinstruments are legible, easy to use and well positioned.

The comfort extends to the supportive seatsand, despite its small-car nature, the A3 also has useful cabin space.

The Audi scores well in safety, too, withsignificant credentials boosted by its strong little body.

At the final comparison, the Australia's BestCars judges were impressed by A3's ride and handling.

All in all it has good small car power, usesjust a nip of fuel and is of a quality expected for its price tag.
