I was privileged to join 24 other folks from the anti nuclear weapon community in this witness a missile silo N-8 near New Raymer. To stand in front of this seemingly benign but barren fenced off piece of what was once praire where buffalo roamed and realize it is one of 49 nuclear armed missiles on launch on warning alert is always a wake up call. To remember that President Bush's announced policy to use such missiles against non-nuclear states in a pre-emptive manner is a crime against humanity according to international law is to hang one's head in shame and to realize the need to change our war driven policies.You may need to copy and past the URL to view.

I am opposed to the idea of bailing out the Wall Street gamblers who have been undermining the financial system since Reagonomics came into play. The Congress is complicit in the whole mess, having repealed the Glass Steagall Act in 1999. Having dumped any regulatory oversight, the financial services "industry" has been creating the illusion of economic growth for a decade and the Wall Street crooks knew perfectly well they were just rolling the dice at Las Vegas East and telling the American public they should get in on the game. This was called sound economic growth.

The war machine we have built names people heroes who kill indiscriminately at 10,000 feet and call the deaths of civilians "collateral damage"--and poisons the planet. In Congress it is just as important as the flag in the lapel to "thank you for your service" to anyone actively in the military who testifies in Congress and is wearing a uniform. But their service has often been to promote the cold steel, Darth Vader technology and its use as a valid extension of the brave warrior who risks his or her own life to protect the community and the innocent.Thus John McCain is portrayed as a war hero as he functioned in an unjust, unconstitutional war wreaking havoc on civilians more than upon opposing warriors.

Both the Republican and Democratic Party candidates for U.S. Senate in Colorado give unqualified support to the Republic of Georgia and its President as if the issue is isolated from a U.S. Foreign Policy that seeks to push NATO and U.S. Military presence further and further towards Moscow. This reveals that neither should be chosen to represent the people of Colorado in the U.S. Senate, unless of course, Coloradoans support the wrong headed and cold hearted war policies that infect our nation. What a day! Joining the march for immigration reform and then spending time among folks wearing "Legalize LA" T-Shirts in Lincoln Park talking will all kinds of potential voters--some on the Obama crusade (You could spot them by the Qwest Lanyards around their necks) , some willing to talk Green -- and then some black shirts from California circulating newsprint magazines with Junior High Marxian analysis of the system that needs a violent overthrow.
